10 Basic Computer Tricks and Tips for New Users

Basic computer tips and tricks are very important for new users. Newbies often get confused over little tricks. Most frustating moment is when a kid does the same thing in half time that you do. So, before you et your hands on the computer, you need to know few basic things of computer how it works and how you can make it more easy and comfortable to work with. People learn Microsoft Office at first most of the time because Microsoft office is the most important software that we use daily for documents, presentations and excel sheets. Here is a list of 10 simple, easy and basic computer tips and tricks for new users-

1. Find text with CTRL + F = Want to find something in a text? Simply Press Control key + F from the keyboard. The find window will appear. Type in the word that you want to find and hit enter. You will get the typed word. This trick works in Notepad,Wordpad, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and other office products.

2. Program Shortcut on Desktop - We use few programs everyday that's why we need those programs on the desktop screen. To do that, Go to Start, All Programs >> Find the program >> Right Click on the Program >> Choose Send to Desktop >> Click on Desktop (Create Shortcut ) Option. Now, you can see the shortcut of that program on your desktop screen. Do you need a folder or file on desktop. Follow the same procedure. Go to folder, right click and then send it to desktop.

3. Know Your Keyboard - What happens if you mouse is not working and you want to click on file menu? You can operate through your keyboard by pressing ALT key. If you will press ALT + F key from the keyboard you will get to the file menu. You can see few letters underlined. Press those letters to access those options. See at the top of your browser. Do you see F in FILE underlined? Press ALT +F key to access.

4. Right Click Options - Mouse right click contains a lot of options. Suppose you are browsing the web. There are lot of links on the web page that you want to read. Simply right click on the link and click on Open in new tab. This way your current page will not close and you get to read the other article.

5. Quick Multi -Tasking - What happens if you open several folders or programs at a time and you need to select them by going to taskbar again and again? Well, you don't need to do that. You can change right from your keyboard by pressing ALT + TAB. Press and hold ALT and then TAB button again and again. You will see all programs open on your screen. Those which you want to open leave the tab button on that.

6. Uninstall Program - You can uninstall program which you are not using by going to the Control Panel. Go to the Control Panel from Start. Open Add or Remove Programs. Select the Program which you want to remove and then click on uninstall option. It will completely remove the program.

7. ALT + F4 = You need to press ALT +F4 to close the current window quickly. 

8. Hibernate Option - Hibernate option is used for opening the computer with the same programs opened. You can use the option by going to shutdown option from the start menu. When you click on hibernate, all your programs get saved as they are. Next time you open the computer, you will find those programs and file open the same way as you closed the computer.

9. CTRL + ALT + DEL = Pressing these keys in the same order opens the taskbar. The taskbar contains all the information about the programs, folders and files that you have opened. You can also close the program from taskbar by selecting and clicking on End Task. 

10. Windows Help - Do you get confused a lot? Well, windows is there to help you out. Simply press F1 key on your keyboard. Windows help opens and you can type and search for anything in this window and it will explain everything
